• Bay County native sworn in as judge after DeSantis appointment (wjhg.com) — A Bay County native, Judge Alicia Carothers, has now been formally sworn in in Panama City after her appointment by Gov. Ron DeSantis to fill a local judicial vacancy. Carothers, a Mosley High graduate and longtime public servant, says she's grateful for the chance to serve the community where she grew up, following careers as an assistant state attorney, civil litigator, and deputy county attorney.
• Pelican, tangled in fishing line, asks for help from NOAA (wsbtv.com) — NOAA Fisheries staff in Panama City got an unusual knock at the door when a brown pelican, tangled in heavy fishing line and hooks, literally came seeking help. Biologists calmly freed the bird in about 10 minutes and used the incident to remind local anglers to dispose of fishing line properly and consider barbless hooks to protect wildlife.
• Bay High extends streak over Rutherford, two teams earn first wins (newsherald.com) — Panama City football fans saw Bay High extend its winning streak over Rutherford with a 50–20 victory at Tommy Oliver Stadium, powered by big plays on offense and special teams.
