PINECREST, FL — A landscaper was killed late Thursday afternoon when a falling tree branch struck a power line and touched off a vehicle fire. First responders from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pronounced the victim dead on the scene. He was not immediately identified.

"It was tree trimmers that were trimming some trees in the easement of a Pinecrest neighborhood," Lt. Felipe Lay of the Miami-Dade Fire Rescue told Patch. "Apparently one of the branches fell and hit a power line and came into contact with the truck that the guys were in."

The second landscaper was not injured, according to Lay, who said that the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at SW 98 Street and SW 62 Avenue.
