Neighbors of the child's home at SW 99th Avenue and SW 50th Terrace told Local 10 News that the dog was frequently seen playing with the child in the family yard.

"The little girl screamed. The dog barked. It made a growling noise and then the little girl screamed again. I mean loud," a neighbor told the television crew. "Little girls have a shrieking voice. And then about 10-15 minutes later, fire rescue came. They put bandages on her. They actually took her out of the yard and closed the gate to get away from the dog because it's still running loose."
