The Beach Theatre is widely known as the place to go for independent movies in Pinellas County. The theatre will occasionally have larger name film, but many times films playing at the Beach Theatre, are only playing at the Beach Theatre.

The Beach Theatre opened on January 15, 1940 with the film Dust Be My Destiny. Since then, the film has been continuously and playing movies every week, save for a year-and-a-half during World War II, when they were told by the military to suspend operations.

The blue and white marquee fits is visible from anywhere on Corey Avenue's downtown area. The theater is built with the classic movie theater style that adds a nostalgic factor to going to see a film.
