Beachy Cupcake Flavors Are Popular for Spring Break

'Everything beachy and tropical is selling for spring break' at the Sarasota Cupcake Company on St. Pete Beach, according to bakery co-owner Milan Zammit.

Orange creamsicle. Strawberry pina colada. Key lime pie.  These are three of the favorite cupcake flavors for spring break visitors in St. Pete Beach at the Sarasota Cupcake Company.

"Everything beach and tropical has been selling for spring break," said bakery co-owner Milan Zammit.

Milan and Nathan Zammit started their cupcake business three years ago in Sarasota due to the popularity of Nathan's baking for wedding desserts.  The couple opened a second location in St. Pete Beach on Corey Avenue in October 2012.

The bakery makes plenty of cupcakes for weddings. Although the Zammits will bake cakes, "cupcake trees are trending with brides because of the bigger variety of flavors for guests," Milan Zammit said.
