Indian Rocks Intercoastal Death Identified

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who may have walked off the dock behind the Holiday Inn Harbourside Hotel and Marina at Indian Rocks Beach as 36-year-old Luis Serrano.

Serrano lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and was in the Army stationed at
Fort Carson. Deputies say Serrano was in the Bay Area for a week of training.

A Sheriff's Office spokesperson says around 5:30 Sunday morning, a witness called 911 and reported seeing a man who was very intoxicated walking down the dock area behind the hotel. The caller said that as the man approached a turn in the dock, he continued to walk straight ahead and walked off the dock into the water.

Deputies say that a witness who saw the man from a hotel window called 911 and went to help, but the man was unresponsive. 

Fire rescue responders retrieved the man's body shortly after 6:00 a.m. 

Serrano's family was found and notified in Colorado Springs late Sunday.
