Bright Businesses: Dixie's Little Dog House
Hungry for a hotdog? This longtime Treasure Island eatery serves up quality, specialty hotdogs.
TREASURE ISLAND- A Chicago fireman started selling hotdogs from this corner storefront about 40 years ago. Through several, different owners Chicago style hotdogs have been served in this casual, clean eatery with seating available inside and outside.
Since 2008 Dixie’s Little Dog House co-owners Anita Travis and Dianne Rogers have continued the tradition of serving Vienna Beef from Chicago.
“You can’t buy (Vienna Beef) in the store. It’s top quality all beef,” Travis said.

Travis learned about Vienna Beef products as a child. One of her military family’s many stops was in Chicago. After a career in the airline industry and as an electrician, Travis wanted to do something different and she saw the hotdog stand was for sale.
The dog house’s signature item is the Chicago dog served on a steamed poppy seed bun with mustard, bright green relish, onion, tomatoes, hot peppers, kosher dill and celery salt. Chili, cheese, kraut and slaw are other hotdog topping options.

Plus, the dog house serves bratwurst, Italian beef, and Polish sausage. Yes, fries and shakes are also available. Travis will even pack it all up in beach friendly packaging that does not blow around as easily.
