Bright Businesses: Paradise Sweets

Get an ice cream or a coffee and take in the Gulf of Mexico views from the front porch of Paradise Sweets.

ST. PETE BEACH- From its prime location across from the Gulf of Mexico, Paradise Sweets offers customers-- coffee, ice cream and candy with an amazing view. The corner storefront's covered entry way filled with Adirondack seating makes a great respite from a day at the beach or a busy day at work.

Ice cream on the beach is a family tradition for shop owner Adam Janecek. His parents owned a similar shop in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Then they started Paradise Sweets, which Janecek bought from them five years ago.

In addition to local ice cream (Working Cow), Janecek roasts his own coffee. The blend of the coffee and ice cream makes the store's signature menu item-- the "Pass-A-Cciono." The possibilities for the frozen concoction of espresso and the customer's choice of ice creams are endless. The name is a nod to the shop's Pass-A-Grille location.

The shop owner enjoys being creative from his picturesque piece of paradise.

"The coffee and the sunsets are ridiculous. Being on the beach every day, there's something new out the window. It's always changing," Janecek said.
