Community Development - Upcoming Agenda Items and Board News

City Commission Meeting– September 28

  • Ordinance - to amend the Comprehensive Plan to provide clarification on rationale for awarding density pool units to projects, and situate review criteria within the Land Development Code.
  • Ordinance - to amend the Land Development Code to add a definition for “density pool”, establish a merit-based criteria for the awarding of density pool units to projects requiring a conditional use, provide language in district divisions to complement Comprehensive Plan language amendments, and establish allocation procedures and absolute density limitations for the residential density pool.
  • Ordinance - Appendix "A" of the Code of Ordinances, pertaining to the fee schedule, to set flat fees for certain project types and increasing the cost of plan revisions.
  • Ordinance - providing for an amendment to modify the Land Development Code (LDC) Division 6, Section 6.13, Residential accessory structures, to allow for ornamental landscape features such as three-dimensional works of art on private property with specified conditions.
  • Conditional Use Permit – 7400 Sunset Way - (Case #: 20019); to construct a ten slip "Class A" dock for the use of local business patrons. Additionally, a variance is requested to exceed the maximum dock width and south side encroachment towards Fisherman's Park. The appurtenant property is zoned CG-2 Commercial General, and is under common ownership and associated with adjacent property zoned TC-2 Town Center Coquina West.

Board of Adjustment Meeting – September 30

  • Variance – 1706 Pass-A-Grille Way - (Case No. 19019); Request for the encroachment of an approximately 25.5x15.5’ pool into the rear setback, encroachment of pool equipment into the secondary front setback, and the installation of a 6ft tall fence that exceeds four feet in height in the secondary front setback (LDC Secs. 6.13(c)(1)c., 6.14, & 6.15).
  • Preliminary Subdivision Request – 3101 Pass-A-Grille Way - (Case No. 20061); Request to subdivide a 14,971 sqft lot into two individual 62’x120' lots.
  • Variance – 362 41st Ave – (Case #: 20056); to permit a pool and deck that are located three feet above grade (LDC Sec. 6.13(c)(1)b.)
  • Variance – 3516 Belle Vista Dr E – (Case No. 20062); Request to reduce the rear yard setback to 5ft-7in for a 18x19’ deck cover (Sec. 6.13(c)(4)).
  • Variance – 2200 Sunset Way – (Case No. 20064); Request to install an elevated generator that encroaches to 7 inches from the side property line (LDC Sec. 6.14).
  • Variance – 2805 Sunset Way – (Case No. 20065); Request to install an elevated generator that encroaches to 17 inches from the side property line (LDC Sec. 6.14).
  • Variance – 1801 Pass-A-Grille Way – (Case No. 20066); Request to install an elevated generator that encroaches to 27 inches from the side property line (LDC Sec. 6.14).

  • Local Historic Designation – 113 10th Ave - (Case #: 20052) Pinellas County Gulf Beaches Museum and Cottage.
  • Certificate of Appropriateness and related FEMA Variance – 113 10th Ave – (Case #s: 20053 & 20054); for the Pinellas County Gulf Beaches Cottage interior renovations and minor exterior rehabilitation.
  • Certificate of Appropriateness and related FEMA Variance – 101 9th Ave – (Case #s: 20068 & 20069) for the Pass-a-Grille Shuffleboard Court and Clubhouse interior renovations and minor exterior rehabilitation.

Board of Adjustments Meeting – October 28

  • Variance – 1701 Pass-A-Grille Way – (Case #: 20070); Request for an additional 24' curb cut on 17th Ave, and a reduction to the 17th Ave side set back to allow for a circular drive way and a more ascetically pleasing home design
  • Variance – 7400 Sunset Way – (Case #: 20071); Request for a commercial Class A dock to exceed the permitted width of the property at the waterfront (LDC Sec. 6.23(e)(3)).

St. Pete Beach Public Library

The St. Pete Beach Public Library will be a ballot drop-off location for the November general election. Poll workers from the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections will be on site from October 19 until November 2, Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. If you are voting by mail, you can bring your completed ballot to the library instead of mailing it.

Trunk or Treat

Saturday October 31st 10:00am-2:00pm

The St. Pete Beach Parks & Recreation Department is proud to present “Trunk or Treat on Corey Ave.” This year things will be a little different so please read the description carefully.

This event is located on Corey Ave and will take place between the 300-400 blocks. Families will be able to Trick-or-Treat throughout participating stores as well as “Trunkers” along the street.

All participants must wear a facemask.

The event is from 10am-2pm and will be separated into 4 time slots. You must register for a time slot, each ticket is only valid during that time slot. 75 families max per hour.

11:00am-12:00pm
12:00pm-1:00pm
1:00pm-2:00pm

No participants may enter early and all must be finished within their time slot.

Ticket Information:

This is a FREE ticketed event so even though there is no charge, families participating still need to go online and reserve tickets.

1 ticket = A family of 4 so if you have a family of 4 or less you only need 1 ticket total, if you have a family of 5 you would need 2 tickets total.

Tickets must be presented at the ticket booth before entering the Trunk or Treat Zone.

Art Contest for Kids – Right here on Corey Avenue!

For more fun Halloween activities please be sure to visit https://thegabber.com/halloweendows/

Participating storefronts in four neighborhoods (Gulfport’s Beach and Shore Blvds., Corey Avenue on St. Pete Beach, The Deuces in St. Petersburg, and John’s Pass) will allow kids to paint a poster-sized rectangle of window (pre-marked with tape.) Participating young artists, kindergarten through senior year, will paint Halloween-themed art within the square. Free for all kids to participate, as space allows. Storefronts may make space for more than one painting, within social distancing parameters.

While we will make every effort to accommodate every child who wants to participate, window spots will be available on a first-come, first-signed-up basis.

Signup dates: September 10 to October 20.

Painting: October 24, 8 a.m. to noon

Judging: October 24, 12:30 p.m.

Winners announced in the October 29 edition of the Gabber.

Prizes: $150 per age group (K, 1-2, 3-5, 6-7, 8-9, 10-12)
