PINELLAS PARK, FL — A daylong standoff ended with a gunshot injury to an armed man who barricaded himself in a Pinellas Park home Monday.
At 10:30 a.m. Pinellas Park Police responded to a call of an armed man inside a home in the 6600 block of 100th Avenue North. When the man didn't respond to police, a SWAT Team was called to the scene.
Police discovered that the armed man, Anthony Tyler Jones, 20, of San Juan Court, Clearwater, was the guest of a woman who lives in the home. Before barricading himself in the house, the woman, her adult daughter and a 4-year-old girl were able to escape and call 911.

Throughout the day, SWAT negotiators attempted to communicate with the Jones. At one point, he told the SWAT Team that if he came outside, he was going to "shoot an officer." Then he refused to communicate for several hours.
Just before 4:30 p.m., the SWAT unit used an armored vehicle to push open the front door of the home. After a few minutes, Jones left the house but went back inside several times, finally coming out with a handgun, which he fired toward police. A SWAT sniper shot Jones once, and he was taken into custody. He was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where he is recovering. Once he's been discharged, he will be taken to the Pinellas County Jail where he will be charged with two counts of armed burglary and two counts of aggravated assault with a firearm.
