The Ninth Annual Pooper Scooper Convention will be going this weekend at the Tradewinds Sandpiper in St. Pete Beach.

The event is being put on by the Association of Professional Animal Waste Specialists (aPaws) from October 12 through 14.
aPaws has invited over 800 professional poop scoopers from around the country to come to the convention to meet and learn about their trade with each other. There are scheduled round table discussions and classes on legal matters concerning professional poop scoopers and how to best use media for business promotion.

In addition to the learning and socialization, professional poop scoopers are encouraged to participate in the Scooper Bowl, a competion to find out who's the fastest scooper around. The Scooper Bowl competition will consist of dozens of fake dog poops planted around the hotel for contestants to find and scoop up. The top three scoopers will receive a trophy and a cash prize.
