Fiery Crash On I-275 Claims Life Of Tampa Man

PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — A 26-year-old Tampa man has died following a fiery crash on Interstate 275 near Gandy Boulevard in Pinellas County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, the 26-year-old was driving south on I-275 at a high rate of speed and overtook a car driven by a 25-year-old St. Petersburg man, colliding with the rear of his car.

The impact forced both cars off the highway and onto the shoulder where the Tampa man's car hit a light pole and tree before erupting into flames.

He died at the scene.
