Five Things We Learned on Patch this Week

Find out what you may have missed on Patch this week.

: I can hear the silence between the two people having a conversation long before I know what they’re saying. Trolley stops are often quiet, especially in the heat of a summer day where breathing in the salty beach air takes effort. It’s the not the quiet that piques my interest; it’s the way the quiet feels charged.

: A new restaurant and bar is planned for the northern tip of Treasure Island. The complex will be located on three vacant lots adjacent to John’s Pass, at the base of the John’s Pass Bridge.

: According to an article in the St. Petersburg Times, Sheri and Scott Traylor's chocolate Labs Cam and Caya went missing one night in late July. The couple found Caya in Gulfport, several miles away from their Sunset Beach home, but Cam was still missing. About a week later, they posted fliers offering a $500 reward.

: The other day, my longtime friend KC and I were discussing green ways of living. We both decided that not everyone has the ability, time, motivation or inspiration to compost, garden or create green spaces in their yards. So, with the help of my friend, I have compiled 10 quick and easy ways in which even the simplest tasks can make a difference in living a greener and healthier life.

: This past Saturday at the St. Pete Lions Club Beach House in Treasure Island, the St. Pete Lions Club got together with the Sons of American Legion and the American Legion Ladies Auxillary unit to hold a party benefitting Paws for Veterans. The party included food, live music and raffles, all benefitting Paws for Veterans, a group that specializes in putting a special touch on service dogs.
