Five Things We Learned on Patch this Week

According to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the black skimmer is unusual because of its foraging style.  You can spot them flying just over the water’s surface with their bill open and lower mandible slicing the surface for fish.  These social birds are known to hang out together and nest in the same spot year after year, if left undisturbed.  

Two teens have been arrested and charged with taking $20,000 from one of the boys' mothers. Police say the two are associated with a theft involving two other teens in which the four took navigation systems from cars.

With the help of a federal grant the Clearwater Police were able to spur a task force against human trafficking in 2006. It has kept busy since. The Clearwater/Tampa Bay Area Task Force on Human Trafficking has made 104 arrests for human trafficking which include 37 convictions as of January.

Friends of Rothwell asked everyone to bring orange items and wanted to recieve 123 orange flowers, a flower for each day Rothwell has been missing. Friends and people who didn't know Rothwell came to the vigil to show their support and share their positive energy.
