Yvonne David was born in Nairobi, Kenya, raised there, and in London, England. Passion for language and literature has long been at the center of Yvonne’s life. Her qualifications from the Language Tuition Centre in London, England, include interpreter/translator in French and English. She earned a degree in English and Organizational Communications, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida. Her publishing career began with writing newspaper and magazine articles reaching audiences worldwide. She continued with the first of her four Jewish-themed historical fiction books in the Apple Tree Series, inspired by her son and set in the majestic Catskill Mountains of upstate New York around the turn of the century in 1910 through 1967.
Out of the Apple Orchard, illustrated by Lyn Rodden (Arbiter Press), won a global Independent Publisher Book Awards for Multicultural Fiction - Children’s Honorable Mention and has been adapted for the stage by award-winning playwright Ellen W. Kaplan. This work showcases a Jewish family who had to flee Lithuania because of antisemitism and was fortunate to reach New York City in America with its religious freedoms and golden opportunities. The theme of hopeful new beginnings is especially pertinent today.
