Help Green Your Parks Saturday

Pinellas County residents will take part this weekend in the single-largest volunteer effort for the nation's public lands.

Saturday is National Public Lands Day, with parks in and around St. Petersburg participating.

National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest single-day volunteer event for U.S. public lands, with 170,000 people taking part in 2010.

It's not too late to sign up, roll up your sleeves and volunteer. Here is info on events at parks around Pinellas County and nearby:

De Soto National Memorial Remove trash from shoreline and island. Bradenton Pinellas County Trail Trash pickup. Saint Petersburg Courtney Campbell Causeway Boat Ramp Litter removal. Please pre-register at www.keeptampabaybeautiful.org.   Tampa Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Remove invasive species and debris. St. Petersburg    Camp Bayou Outdoor Learning Center Trash pick-up, landscape maintenance and trail trimming. Ruskin Camp Bayou Preserve Specific projects have not been finalized, but may include trash pick-ups, trail maintenance and much spreading.  Ruskin Ken Thompson Park  Remove debris and invasive species.
