What inspired you to help the community?
“My family has always been first in politics. We have judges, mayors and state represenatives in our background, which is a way of giving back to the community.”
What do you like about the community?
"Someone once said that living in a small town is like living in a big family, and I think that's true with Indian Rocks Beach. We care about each other. If someone is sick, someone is going to bring them food. It's like a big family."
What are you doing to help the community?
"One of the things involves the museum. We've had it in our capital improvement plan for over five years, waiting to try to get the money together for it to happen. The expansion of 1,000 feet is scheduled to begin in September.
We're aware that we live in a small town, and we like it that way. We know it's going to grow, and we're dedicated to helping that happen.
Another thing: We will be breaking ground on 18 transient docks on the intracoastal waterway in October. Folks will be able to come by boat and have dinner and walk around."
How can the public help out?
"They already are. This is the most volunteering-est community around. We call this The Volunteer City. That's what people can do, and they're already doing it."
