Human Trafficking Training for Police Tuesday

The daylong seminar for police is at the St. Pete Beach Community Center on Tuesday, March 6.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the St. Pete Beach Police
Department will host a one-day training class for law enforcement which is
designed to provide an introduction into human trafficking as it is occurring
throughout Florida and the United States.

The training will be conducted by Terry Coonan. Coonan is the founding executive director of the FSU Center for the Advancement of Human Rights and a practicing human rights and immigration attorney.

The "Human Trafficking Identification Training" is from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., March 6, at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, St. Pete Beach.

Topics discussed during the training are the scope of the human trafficking problem in Florida, best practices in investigating human trafficking and information on what resources are available to law enforcement to combat this problem.
