Hurricane Season 2011: Emergency Services Prepare For Tropical Storm Emily

The American Red Cross and Salavation Army of Florida are putting measures into place in case Tropical Storm Emily makes landfall on Florida.

Florida is lying in Tropical Storm Emily’s cone of uncertainty and may track towards Florida.

The American Red Cross is coordinating with local emergency officials and preparing shelters and relief supplies are ready. Volunteers are also being organized for the possible landfall.

The Red Cross currently has teams ready in Haiti, where tropical storm warnings have already been issued.

The Salvation Army of Florida is preparing with mobile kitchens, communication centers and more than 700 trained volunteers.

The Salvation Army of Florida is holding an emergency disaster services training today and tomorrow to discuss public relation policies during a disaster.

Currently, the NOAA shows Tropical Storm Emily heading towards Florida with a projected landfall of Saturday.
