Madeira Beach Considering New Parking Meters
The parking meters would allow people to pay with their cell phones.
Ever gotten a ticket because you couldn't make it back to your parking meter in time to put in an extra quarter? In Madeira Beach, you may not have to worry about that again.
The Madeira Beach City Commission is considering installing modernized parking meters that could be paid for with a cell phone, according to Tampabay.com.
The parking meters at John's Pass Village, South Beach, Archibald Park, and the parking lots at 130th, 131st, 132nd, 133rd, 134th, 135th and 135th avenues would all be replaced.

The cost of the project would run at least $286,000.
The meters would be solar-powered and take credit cards as well as coins.

The meters would be similiar to the other parking meters in other beaches, where people parking would receive a ticket to put in their dash after paying.
The contract with the installer is expected to be signed in November, with installation beginning in early 2013.
