Madeira Beach Fire Chief Hired Permanently

Madeira Beach fire chief Derryl O’Neal will be taking on the job permanently.

O'Neal, who has been serving in an interim basis, was hired as the permanent chief last week, according to an article from the Beach Beacon.

O'Neal was the former fire chief in Madeira Beach from 2001 to 2009. After he was fired by the then city manager W.D. Higginbotham Jr., he worked as a fire chief in Mineola, a suburb near Orlando.

The city attorney has noted that O'Neal's rehiring does not violate the city’s policies.

O'Neal has been borrowed from the Mineola fire department .
