Madeira Beach Man Killed in I-4 Crash Identified

A 51-year-old Madeira Beach man has died following a Friday morning motorcycle crash on eastbound Interstate 4 in Hillsborough County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was approaching County Line Road around 3:13 a.m. in the outside lane on a motorcycle as a Mazda 3 driven by Payge Heingarte, 19, of Cape Canaveral was traveling in the center lane. The motorcyclist, the patrol said, changed lanes and struck the rear of the Mazda.

Following the collision, the motorcycle left the road, went onto the shoulder and struck a concrete barrier wall. The rider was ejected.

Robert Lee Haas was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where he later died.
