Madeira Beach Nusiance Ban is Passed
CIty now has power to force landlords to evict tenants involved in illegal activities.

Madeira Beach is looking to clean up the town from any sort of troublesome tenant.
In a decision reached last Tuesday, the city commission unanimously agreed to enact a new nuisance ban in Madeira Beach, according to Tampabay.com
The new ban will effect business and residential property renters who have been continuously arrested in connection with crimes involving drugs, prostitution, gang activity and stolen property.

The ban allows the city to fine the property owners $500 a day until the nuisance tenant is removed. It also allows for the closure of buildings, if the case is severe enough.
The enforcement of the ban does not require convictions on the part of the tenant, only the implication that such activities are occurring.

Currently, interim City Manager, Jim Madden, is compiling the arrest records for the crimes in question to see what properties have had two or more incidences in the past six months.
