Residents and businesses are being asked to avoid use of the sewer system until further notice.

MADEIRA BEACH, FL — Pinellas County Utilities customers in the Madeira Beach area are being asked to avoid using their sewer systems until further notice.
“Due to blockages in the sewer system, Pinellas County Utilities is requesting that Madeira Beach residential and business customers along Gulf Boulevard, from the Tom Stuart Causeway south to 140th Avenue, stop using the sewer system immediately,” the county wrote in an email to media Tuesday afternoon.
The county says the cause of the blockage is under investigation. It is unclear how long the request will last.
