Man Charged With Voyeurism After Cameras Discovered In Bathrooms

Pinellas Park Police have arrested a man who secretly videotaped 12 women and two men in the restrooms of an office building.

PINELLAS PARK, FL -- Pinellas Park Police have arrested a man who secretly videotaped 12 women and two men in the restrooms of an office building.

John Gibbs, 49, of 1399 Belcher Road, #301, Largo, is accused of installing two video cameras in the ceiling tiles of two restrooms in the office building at 12360 66th Street N, Pinellas Park, and videotaping mostly women using the facilities.

The investigation began March 2 when officers were called to the office building to investigate a suspicious incident in one of the common restrooms inside the building, which contains 60 small businesses.

During the initial investigation, officers located two video recording devices in the ceiling tiles. The recording devices contained video images of multiple women and two men using the toilet.

Detectives were able to identify Gibbs, a maintenance worker in the building, from images captured on the recording device. He was arrested Thursday, March 22.

Detectives are now trying to identify all of the victims on the videos. So far, they’ve identified14 victims, however, several more victims are unidentified.

Detectives believe Gibbs has been recording the videos since February.

The office building management has notified the 60 small businesses inside the building where the common restrooms are located.

Pinellas Park Police are asking anyone who either works, visited or been a customer of any of the businesses inside the office building and thinks he or she may be a victim to contact Pinellas Park detectives at (727) 369-7864.
