Motorcycle Collides With Sheriff's Vehicle; Minor Injuries

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FL — The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident involving a deputy and a motorcyclist Friday night in Indian Rocks Beach.

According to the sheriff's office, at 10:37 p.m. Pinellas County Sheriff's Deputy Austin Rill, 23, was on duty driving a fully marked 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe. Rill was traveling south on Gulf Boulevard when he made a left turn onto 4th Avenue, attempting to stop two vehicles ahead of him.

Charles P. Roberts, 51, of St. Petersburg and passenger Vanessa Bennett, 51, of Indian Rocks Beach were traveling north on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when the motorcycle struck the side of the sheriff's vehicle.

Roberts was treated at the scene and Bennett was transported to the hospital and later released. Rill was not injured.
