Pass-A-Grille Post Office is Sealed and Done
The Pass-A-Grille post office will be closing down for good today.

The post office in Pass-A-Grille will be shutting it’s doors for the final time today.
After being in business for 100 years and being around as long as the community, the Pass-A-Grille post office will close and all current customers will use the post office on Corey Avenue as there new home post office.
The order to close the post office down came about earlier this year. Since then, the and Pass-A-Grille post office have been working at ways to make the transition between offices easy for customers, said Diane Goldstein, a manager at the Corey Avenue post office.

Due to the preparations made, there will be no interference of mail services in Pass-A-Grille and everything will continue as normal, Goldstein said.
Since the Corey Avenue office is becoming the primary office, the P.O. boxes from Pass-A-Grille have all been moved to the Corey location, Goldstein said. The Corey Avenue location made sure to accommodate the same size P.O. boxes and number system into their own.

“Keeping the same number saves the customer a lot of trouble. Many customers have also chosen numbers they like,” Goldstein said.
The reason for shutting down the Pass-A-Grille post office is because of the current state of the economy, Goldstein said. Many of the smaller post offices around the country are being closed down and merged with others.
When the Pass-A-Grille post office is closed down for good, the sign that hangs out front will be donated to the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum in Pass-A-Grille, Goldstein said.
The Corey Avenue location will also be trying to keep a piece of memorabilia from the Pass-A-Grille post office, Goldstein. The office is hoping to get the cancellation stamp for Pass-A-Grille so they can continue to mark mail to Pass-A-Grille with it’s own stamp instead of one that reads St. Pete Beach.
Today from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the Pass-A-Grille post office will be celebrating a customer appreciation day for everyone who has used the office over the years, Goldstein. Cookies and juice will be available and the post office will close it’s doors for the final time shortly afterwards.
