Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck While Walking Across Gulf Way

Lynn Gilliland​, 56, and Maria Rodriguez, 68, were crossing west to east on Gulf Way outside the designated crosswalk, said deputies.

ST. PETE BEACH, FL — One pedestrian is dead following a crash Sunday night in St. Pete Beach.

Around 7 p.m., Pinellas County sheriff's deputies responded to the crash at 709 Gulf Way in St. Pete Beach.

According to investigators, 21-year-old Jolee-Ana Eaton was driving a 2005 Nissan Pathfinder west on 8th Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto Gulf Way when she struck two women crossing the road outside a designated crosswalk.

Lynn Gilliland, 56, and Maria Rodriguez, 68, were crossing west to east on Gulf Way outside the designated crosswalk, said deputies.

Gilliland was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Rodriguez was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening.
