Pinellas County Gyms Can Reopen Per Governor’s Full Phase I Plan

The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners extended the state of emergency for another week, through Friday, May 22.

Gyms in Pinellas County are now be able to open, according to Governor DeSantis’ Full Phase 1 plan issued on Friday, May 15. Gyms and fitness centers will be allowed to reopen with modifications for increased public safety. The modifications include:

• Operating up to 50% capacity
• Self-sanitizing machines and surfaces after use

Other changes in operations for facilities in the Full Phase I plan include:

Restaurant and food establishments:
May increase indoor capacity to 50% with proper social distancing
Outdoor seating encouraged

Museums and libraries:
May operate up to 50% capacity if permitted by local governments

Pinellas County updates

The Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners extended the state of emergency for another week, through Friday, May 22.

Testing for COVID-19 continues to expand in Pinellas County. Tests are available at no cost to residents, even those without symptoms. For more information, residents can visit https://covid19.pinellascounty.org/testing/.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be tracking beach capacity over the next two weekends and Memorial Day with its beach capacity website. The online tool is available at www.pcsoweb.com/beachcapacity.

Non-profit organizations that serve low to moderate income residents can apply for funds to support public health and testing, feeding operations, emergency sheltering, housing and other services.
