Pinellas Elementary Teacher Accused Of Showing Up To Work Drunk

A Pinellas County elementary school teacher was fired and arrested Friday after she was accused of showing up to work drunk.

PINELLAS PARK, FL — A Pinellas County elementary school teacher was fired and arrested Friday after she was accused of showing up to work drunk.

Pinellas Park Police arrested Lisa Edelstein, 55, just after 9 a.m. at Skyview Elementary School on 60th Street North.

School administrators notified police, telling them that Edelstein, who had only been a teacher there for a week and was still on probation, was acting drunk and yelling in front of the children.

When they arrived, police said Edelstein was trying to drive away from campus. They said she showed signs of impairment including slurred speech and bloodshot, watery eyes and had the odor of alcohol on her breath.

Police also discovered marijuana inside her car.

She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct with other charges pending. She was also fired by the Pinellas County School District.
