Pinellas Man Accused Of Killing Friend After Night Of Drinking

INDIAN ROCKS BEACH, FL — A 40-year-old Indian Rocks Beach man has been charged with manslaughter after being accused of killing his friend following a night of drinking.

At 4:44 a.m. Saturday, Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting at 1214 Bay Pines Blvd. in Indian Rocks Beach and discovered 35-year-old Jose Ruben Mayorga Ruana of 39th Avenue North in St. Petersburg dead from a gunshot wound

Detectives said the homeowner, Justin William Miller, and Ruana were friends and had been drinking together at a bar earlier that evening. The two men returned to Miller's home after midnight.

Miller told detectives he thought there was an intruder in his home and shot Ruana in the living room. Detectives said there was no evidence of a burglary or an intruder in the home.
