Pinellas Park Police Identify Accused Porch Pirate

PINELLAS PARK, FL — Thanks to tips from readers who saw surveillance footage from a Ring video camera, Pinellas Park Police investigators have arrested a man they believe is responsible for stealing packages off a porch in the 3800 block of 103rd Avenue North.

Michael Smith was taken into custody Friday and charged with burglary.

The theft occurred around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25. A man swiped two packages delivered to a resident and placed on the front porch. A Ring doorbell video caught the thief in action.

Police said several residents recognized Smith and contacted police.
