Possible Tax Increase Approved in St. Pete Beach

The St. Pete Beach City Commission voted to raise property taxes 15 percent, pending the November vote on whether to keep the St. Pete Beach Police.

The St. Pete Beach City Commission voted to tenatively raise property taxes by 15 percent, according to an article from the Tampa Bay Times.

The raise in taxes would bring in $800,000 in additional funds for St. Pete Beach, which would be used to continue the St. Pete Beach Police.

The tax raise may not be needed though, depending on what the voters decide in November.

Members from th St. Pete Beach Police Union spoke and urged voters to support the switch to the Sheriff's Department.
