Pride through Art
Thirteen local artists featured a vast unique collection during the opening reception for the Big Gay Art Show on Friday June 10th.
On Friday June 10th, the Suntan Art Center held an opening reception for their first year Big Gay Art Show event. Local artist, John Kohlburn, a member of the Suntan Board kicked off the pride show event, which partnered with St. Pete Pride. The art exhibit featured 13 local visual artists, including one straight women, Margaret Herman, who wanted to show support for the pride event by having her artwork displayed.
"If she was born that way she can't help it," said Kohlburn.
From oil to mixed media, over 50 pieces of artwork were displayed throughout the two-story building. All donations go to the St. Pete Pride and the Suntan Art Center. The show will be on display through June 30th.
Some featured artists include: Kyu Yamamoto, Anita Kelly, Andrea Pawlisz, Hugo Porcaro, and Todd Richardson.
