REDINGTON SHORES, FL — A Seminole man who was indicted in connection with the Jan. 6 siege at the U.S. Capitol has been charged with boating under the influence after crashing a speeding boat onto an island in the Intracoastal Waterway, authorities said.

According to the Pinellas Park Sheriff's Office, 38-year-old Paul Rae of the 11000 block of 106 Court in Seminole, was arrested around 10 p.m. Saturday after witnesses reported a boat traveling at a high speed and then crashing into a small island near 79418 2nd Ave. E.

Deputies with the sheriff's marine unit found the boat run aground about 75 feet from the water line in some mangroves. Deputies said Rae and a passenger were found at the scene and that both displayed signs of being intoxicated.

Rae is currently under federal supervision following his release on bond on charges of taking part in the siege at the U.S. Capitol.

Rae was arrested March 24 when the FBI raided his home and confiscated seven guns and 1,000 rounds of ammunition, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel George said Rae traveled to Washington, D.C., in response to a call by the Proud Boys, a far-right nationalist group, to disrupt the certification of the presidential election results.

He said Rae was among the Proud Boys associates who entered the building after another member smashed a window in the Capitol and opened a door to allow the crowd access to the building. He was identified from a photo posted on the FBI's website seeking the identities of those who participated in the event.

Rae was charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds without authorization, and corrupting, obstructing, interfering or impeding an official proceeding.

He was released on a $25,000 bond under the condition that he wear a GPS device and remain at home except for going to work, religious services, doctor's appointments and visiting his son in Sebring. He also was required to surrender his passport and the guns that FBI agents said they found in his home.
