
Sprinklers and other utilities that use reclaimed water will be unavailable today.
The Pinellas County Government has released a statement saying that all reclaimed water in the Southern Pinellas areas will be unavailable for all of Monday, June 20.
The cutoff of water is due to a lack of rainfall and overuse of reclaimed water. The shutoff is to help restore the capacity of reclaimed water.

On the beaches, Treasure Island and St. Pete Beach will be affected by the reclaimed water shutoff.
The water shutoff will only affect items that utilize reclaimed water. There will be no change in the use of sink water, drinking water or any water meant for human consumption and use.

According to the Pinellas County Utilities, reclaimed water is wastewater that has been processed through a high filtration system until it’s considered reusable. The filtration process removes toxic items, while leaving in important minerals to promote landscape irrigation.
The shutoff should only be active for Monday and reclaimed water usage is expected to continue on Tuesday.
If reduced rainfall continues, there may have to be more shutoffs on reclaimed water, according the Pinellas County Utilities.
