Remembering Through Photos: 9/11

Millions of Americans were affected by the 9/11 attacks. Some experienced tragic loss or were inspired to help those in grief. Others felt a call to activism, whether to volunteer or get involved politically. 

On the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Patch looked out across our sites to pull together snapshots of everyday Americans whose lives were changed by the events of that day, in both small and profound ways.

This site and hundreds of others captured the faces, keepsakes, memorials, ceremonies, flags, fund-raisers, deployments and the raw emotions that people still feel today. 

Taken together these photos create a mosaic of a country that is filled with hope but continues to grieve. Click through to see how your neighbors near and far marked the day.
