Ribbon-Cutting Set Friday For New Pinellas Park Fire Station

PINELLAS PARK, FL — Residents are invited to attend the ribbon-cutting and grand opening of Pinellas Park Fire Station 36 Friday, June 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Pinellas Park fire officials, city council members, city staff and guests will be in attendance.

Guests will be able to tour the station following the ribbon-cutting.

Station 36 is a 13,400-square-foot, single-story building located at 4050 80th Ave. N. The station operates 24/7 and has eight bedrooms, four bathrooms, two officer sleeping quarters with attached bathrooms, a four-bay garage, a fully equipped gym, storage warehouse and a self-contained breathing apparatus room.

The station is also home to the fire department's newest fire apparatus: Squad 36, which is a combination fire engine and heavy rescue truck.

Fire personnel operating out of Station 36 will provide fire suppression, fire prevention and emergency medical services to the gateway portion of Pinellas Park's fire service area.

Founded in 1912 as a volunteer service, the Pinellas County Fire Department became a full-time paid fire department in 1985.

Today, led by Fire Chief Brett Schlatterer, the Pinellas Park Fire Department serves about 63,000 people in the 26-square-mile fire district, employing 81 full-time firefighters and 21 administrative personnel.

In addition to the new Station 36, Pinellas Park has four other stations:

  • Station 16, 4600 N 58th St., provides services to the southern region of the Pinellas Park fire district and to Kenneth City through a contractual agreement.
  • Station 33, 5000 N 82nd Ave., Pinellas Park, serves the total fire service area with one of the city's aerial trucks, a rescue truck, a squad truck and a hazardous materials response team.
  • Station 34 at 6565 N 94th Ave., Pinellas Park, serves the total area with an engine, a technical response vehicle and a rescue truck.
  • Station 35 at 11350 43rd St., Pinellas Park, houses one of the city's aerial trucks, a fire engine and reserve apparatus. Fire administration and life safety personnel are also located at the station.
