Seaside Spirits: Mickey Quinn's

Bring on the Guinness at Mickey Quinn's.

Thus far, south county has gotten all the attention, so we now shift focus to a northerly drinking establishment…and by northerly, we mean Indian Rocks Beach. One Mickey Quinn’s caught our eye. Here are five reasons why.

The Guinness. There are not many establishments on the beach where one can find Guinness on draught, let alone someone who knows how to pour it. We’ll leave it at that.

The look. This place doesn’t try to fool you into believing you’re back in Guinness’s motherland, but it does have the correct décor and lighting to compliment said Guinness; not to mention pool tables, which are somewhat rare on the beach, especially the further north you head (it seems).

The music. There is a decent jukebox, but keep an eye out for live (acoustic) music as well as an open mic night, if you are so inclined to strum.

The staff. Very cool people, seriously. Conversations here are good (it was from a staff member here that this reporter first heard the term “manniversary.” Plus, they actually know how to pour a Guinness.

The crowd. Many places out on the beach cater to one crowd or another, whereas, this one attracts a pretty diverse range of patrons, and not all are necessarily Guinness enthusiasts.
