Seminole Woman Accused Of Causing 3 Crashes, 1 Fatal
A 28-year-old Seminole woman was arrested after Pinellas Park Police said she caused three accidents Saturday in which one person died.

PINELLAS PARK, FL — A 28-year-old Seminole woman was arrested after Pinellas Park Police said she caused three accidents Saturday in which one person died.
At 10:10 a.m. Oct. 19, police received a call about a Toyota Camry that had caused two accidents. While officers attempted to locate the driver, the Camry ran a red light at the intersection of 66th Street and 70th Avenue, causing a third crash that proved fatal.
Police said the series of crashes began when Katlynn M. Smith struck a Lexus near Starkey Road and Bryan Dairy Road and then fled the scene. The driver of the Lexus followed Smith, reporting to 911 operators that she was driving recklessly along Bryan Dairy Road.

At the intersection of Bryan Dairy and Belcher roads, the witness said Smith struck another vehicle stopped for a red light and continued to drive through the intersection against the light. Neither crash resulted in any injuries.
Police were searching for Smith's car when she drove through the red light at 66th and 70th avenues, crashing into the driver's side door of a vehicle operated by Kanh Kim Nguyen, 53, of Largo.

Nguyen died from injuries sustained in the crash. Smith was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and was charged with vehicular homicide and hit-and-run crash with property damage.
