Small Plane Crash Victims Identified
The private, single-engine plane crashed at takeoff from Albert Whitted Airport just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
A 79-year-old St. Petersburg resident died Wednesday, after the single-engine plane he was piloting crashed upon takeoff, according to TBO.com.
James Finnegan of Rialto Way on Snell Isle died at a local hospital after rescuers pulled him from the wreckage. He was a pilot taking a course to update his skilles when he crashed at the St. Pete airport.
James Murphy, his teacher, was injured in the crash and is hospitalized in stable condition. Murphy lives near Gandy Boulevard in St. Petersburg.

Rescuers removed the two men from the plane, rushing them to the hospital. Finnegan died but Murphy is reported to be in stable condition, according to TBO.com.
