St. Pete Beach Hotel Owner Faces Fines

A St. Pete Beach Hotelier is alleged to have an illegal lodging unit

According to a story from the St. Petersburg Times, Ron Holehouse, owner of the Inn on the Beach in Pass-A-Grille, is facing a $500 a day fine for a possible illegal room.

Holehouse rents part of his house and garage apartment to guests. Holehouse has said that all the rooms are completely licensed and legal. The room that is in question is listed as The Loft, and is a garage apartment attached to Holehouse's home, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Holehouse inherited the right to use the building as a residence as well as a rental when he bought the property in 1996, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Pass-A-Grille officials said that Holehouse lost the right to rent the parts of his house to guests by not renting the area for 90 consecutive days, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Holehouse must either submit to an inspection by the city or face the fines, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

The city has asked Holehouse to stop rental of the unit until the inspection, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
