St. Pete Beach Police to Collect Unused Medications

If you have prescription pills that are expired or unused, you can dispose of them safely on Saturday. The St. Pete Beach Police Department is participating in the eighth annual "Operation Medicine Cabinet" in Pinellas County. The event will be held in conjunction with DEAs National Take Back Day.

Local law enforcement will be at 4655 Gulf Blvd in St. Pete Beach to collect medications. No biohazard items or needles will be accepted.

Operation Medicine Cabinet events to date (two in 2009; two in 2010; two in 2011; and one in 2012); along with Operation Medicine Cabinet permanent drop-off containers at the Sheriff’s Administration Building and North District Station; at Treasure Island Police Department and Tarpon Springs Police Department have collected over 8,600 pounds of medications.

As a reminder, drop off sites are not located inside the stores but in the parking lot areas. Residents should look for a law enforcement presence at each of the selected drop-off sites.

Also, please be aware that the drop-off containers at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Central Station (Largo) and North District Station (Dunedin) will be temporarily closed during the countywide event.
