Suspect, with Runaway, Leads Police in Car Chase

Korey Everett and a runaway, who is a juvenile, were charged with stealing a car in St. Pete Beach. They tried to outrun police and struck an unmarked cruiser, according to a report from St. Pete Beach Police.

Korey Everett, 20, of St. Petersburg and a juvenile runaway were charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.

Officers received a tip on Wednesday that a stolen vehicle with a runaway juvenile was traveling on Gulf Boulevard.

After locating the vehicle officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop and suspect fled from the traffic stop and struck an unmarked police cruiser.

Officers pursued the vehicle on Gulf Boulevard and the car turned on to Punta Vista, damaging a water main.

The officers employed stop sticks as the vehicle exited back to Gulf Boulevard to puncture both the front and rear tires.

The suspects continued on Gulf Boulevard and eventually abandoned the car at 41st and Moody.

From there, the suspects fled on foot until they were apprehended in the backyard of a residence. 

Everett, who was driving the vehicle, is being charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, fleeing and eluding a police office and not having a valid driver's license.

The juvenile was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and was recovered as a runaway.
