Talkback: Chilly Coasts

With the weather turning colder, what do you do on the beach?

The weather is getting colder by the day and we can definitely feel it on the beach with strong gusts of wind blowing off the water making it extra chilly.

Of course, it's not getting down to freezing temperatures at all and you shouldn't plan on any snow days for the kids, but cold weather is coming and it's enough to make you think twice about jumping in the water.

That's why we want to ask you what you like to do in the cold weather on the beach? Do you carry on through the chill and keep up the routine of going out to the water or do you cuddle up in a blanket, crank up the heat and wait for spring?

Myself, I spent a great part of my youth up in Michigan and was fond of the brutal winters (if you don't know what they're like, look up lake-effect snow). That's why I like to head out in the early evening with my wife on windy days. I grab my leather jacket with a hood and fill up a metal cup with hot cocoa and watch the sunset while feeling the chill wind. It's the closest in Florida I can get to the wonderful winters I remember growing up.

Whatever it is that you like to do during the winter, we want to know. In addition to sharing with us your wintertime plans, you'll give us here at Patch ideas of what would be great to cover during the colder months. Let us know in the comments and if it's a specific event you like, let us know the date so we can get out and cover it. Until then, keep warm!
