Talkback: When a Storm is Coming
What do you first think of when you hear that a hurricane is coming?

Hurricane Irene breezed by us and we didn't feel much of the effects of it at all. A little high wind and a little rain was all the Irene brought to the beaches.
Given that Irene was the first close call of the season, we at Patch want to know what first comes to your mind when you hear a hurricane might hit.
Do you start worrying and getting prepared? Do you think to get your surfboard ready to go and hit the waves? No matter what you first think when you hear about a hurricane, we want to know!

To start off, when I first hear about a hurricane, I get all of my camera gear ready. I've had an obsession of shooting photos and videos during storms since before I worked as a journalist. During Irene, My mind immediately went to shooting during it. It's definitely not the smartest or safest thing, but I've always done it and love doing it.
My wife, on the other hand, is a lot more rational. She thinks to have a hurricane box ready to go in case of any power outages or other negative consequences to the storm.

While your examples don’t have to be as long, we do want them by Saturday night so we can post the stories on the site on Sunday.
