The Golden Days of Fall

There are actual places to see the changing of the leaves in Florida.

Florida isn't known for having the most vivid changes in seasons. Most of Florida has gotten accustomed to two seasons. Hot and hotter.

While most of the leaves don't fall in Autumn in Florida (unless you count palm leaves falling because of high winds), there are some hidden areas in Florida that act curiously like other states.

There are places in Florida lucky enough to see the changing of the leaves. The closest of these places is the Ormond Scenic Loop in Ormond Beach. At three hours awaythe drive will take you across the state, but the opportunity to see the leaves turn a lovely red while next to the ocean may be worth the time spent.

The color of the leaves at Ormond Scenic Loop is due to the presence of pignut hickories and red maples, which turn to a lovely gold and red.

There also two other locations to visit to see the changing leaf colors. Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, at nearly five hours away and Torreya State Park at five and half hours away.

Unfortunately, none of the options are all too close.

Besides the traditional changing of the leaves, what do you think of when you think of Autumn? What do you specifically think of when you think of Florida in the fall? If you decide to go to any of the locations, be sure to take a couple of snapshots to share with the rest of us on Patch so we can live vicariously through your images.
