There Is 'A Little Room For Art' on St. Pete Beach

The artist's co-op in Pass-a-Grille with a secret backyard garden has thrived while others around it have folded.

Elaine Anagnos is well known at A Little Room For Art in Pass-A-Grille on St. Pete Beach.

The space is an artist’s co-op where artists can lease space and sell their work off of commission. The co-op atmosphere eliminates competition among artists in the space and has allowed the studio to thrive for nearly 13 years.

“Me and two other women talked about doing it for awhile and one day said, 'Let’s just do it,' ” said Anagnos.

Since then, A Little Room For Art has survived as other art shops have closed around them.

“I think we’ve made it because when you sell art for commission, you aren’t relying on it to survive. We could pay rent each month because we weren’t relying on selling a certain amount of pieces to do so,” Anagnos said.

More than 30 artists currently occupy space in the shop, including Mary Greico, Ed Brown and Marianne Yatsco.

A popular trend at the store is homemade jewelry. Navigating the winding rooms of A Little Room For Art leads to a secret backyard garden with even more art to admire.
