Three members of the Coast Guard received a Medal of Operational Merit after saving a woman in July

After saving a woman in July of 2012, three Coast Guard members are receiving their well-deserved recognition.

The three Coast Guard members are receiving the Medal of Operational Merit after saving a woman's life in Clearwater Harbor, according to Tampabay.com.

Mel Manning of Belleair Bluffs, Peter Palmieri of Largo and Russ Stauffer of Clearwater were on a Coast Guard patrol in July when they noticed two people in the water.

A 62-year-old woman had been ejected from her watercraft and a man was trying to help her. The woman appeared to be going into shock so Manning called Coast Guard Station Sand Key.

Manning, Palmieri and Stauffer then mounted a rescue and transported her to Station Sand Key for treatment.
