Treasure Island's European Delicatessen Market

Where a New World Beach Meets Old World Flavors

Treasure Island's European Delicatessen Market brings a bit of the old country (Eastern Europe, to be exact) to the beach.  Located right off Central Ave, right before Treasure Island's main drive, the Delicatessen Market wears its heritage on its sleeve.  Or, in this case, printed in Cyrillic on its door.

Tatyana Kantor opened the European Delicatessen Market "[shares] with the American people all the good things that [Europe] has" to offer.  It carries a wide variety of deli meats, cheeses, candies, beers, and wines.  Calling upon her Eastern block contacts, Tatyana makes sure the products are made using "old country recipes."

One prime example of this thoroughness is the Delicatessen Market's salami.  Offering a number of salamis; ranging from Ham to Hungarian, as well a broad range of spiciness (mild to extreme); all of which provide "a bouquet of taste." Tatyana maintains there's "a world of separation" between Hungarian salami versus the salami you'll find in a local supermarket.  Rather than use just "two or three ingredients," Hungarian salami gets its unique taste from a "number of spices [minus] all the preservatives."

Another popular staple are the Delicatessen's beers and wines.  Carrying an assortment of international flavors, including a selection of Baltic and Polish origins; has quickly made beer a best seller.  Complimenting the beers are the Delicatessen's wines; allowing Treasure Islander connoisseur the chance to taste some Georgian and Moldavian wares.

Proud of all her wares, Tatyana playfully ends the interview with a challenge that "whoever [tries the Delicatessen's] bologna [will] never ever go back to the American bologna."
